【講演内容の概要】
共英製鋼は、35年以上にわたり医療・産業廃棄物を電気炉で無害化・処理しながら鋼材を製造してきた独自の歴史を有します。2024年より、その技術と理念を「エシカルスチール」として新たにブランド化し、社会に向けて展開を開始しました。社会から出る“負の資産”を、社会を支える“プラスの力”へ変えていくプロセスを通じて、サーキュラーエコノミー社会の実現に不可欠な存在である「エッセンシャルカンパニー」としての役割や取り組みについて紹介します。

Presentation Title:
"Initiatives to Realize a Circular Economy Society Centered on 'Ethical Steel'
Abstract:
Kyoei Steel has a unique history spanning over 35 years of manufacturing steel products while simultaneously neutralizing and processing medical and industrial waste in its electric arc furnaces (EAFs).
In 2024, this proprietary technology and philosophy were newly branded as "Ethical Steel" and launched to the public.
This presentation will introduce Kyoei Steel's role and initiatives as an "Essential Company," an indispensable presence for realizing a circular economy. This role is fulfilled through the process of transforming society's "negative assets" (waste) into a "positive force" that supports society (steel).
Profile:
Born in Osaka in 1968, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics, Doshisha University, in 1993, the same year he joined Japan Asia Investment Co., Ltd.
He joined Kyoei Steel Ltd. in 2014 as Deputy General Manager of the Corporate Planning Department at the Head Office, and was promoted to General Manager of the department in 2018. In 2022, he was appointed Director of Nakayama Steel Works, Ltd. He assumed his current position as Executive Officer and General Manager of the Corporate Planning Department at the Head Office of Kyoei Steel Ltd. in 2023.
