【講演内容の概要】
Novelisは、世界最大のアルミ板メーカーとして、循環型社会の実現に向けて高リサイクル率（High Recycled Content）アルミ材の開発と実用化を推進しています。本講演では、Novelisが掲げるサーキュラーエコノミーおよびカーボンニュートラル目標「3×30」の達成に向けた取り組みを紹介します。さらに、自動車分野でのリサイクル循環プラットフォームの構築事例として、欧州リサイクラーとの連携によるPost Consumer Scrapを活用したリサイクル材開発、欧州自動車メーカーとのリサイクル材適用部品の共同開発、Twitchを対象とした高度選別技術の実証など、産業連携を通じたアルミ循環の最前線を紹介します。
【プロフィール】
大阪大学大学院（金属工学専攻）修了。1992年に日産自動車㈱へ入社し、R&D部門にて車体およびパワートレーン用金属材料の開発に従事。北米R&Dへの赴任を経て、アルミリサイクル循環の構築や低CO₂材料の開発を推進。2025年4月にTHY Nexus合同会社を設立し、現在はNovelis Japan代表として日本の自動車メーカーを担当している。

Novelis’ Challenge Toward a Circular Economy in the Automotive Industry — Advancing Recycled Aluminum and Global Collaboration —
Abstract:
As the world’s largest aluminum rolling and recycling company, Novelis is driving the development and practical use of high recycled content aluminum materials to help realize a circular economy.
In this presentation, Mr. Hayashi will introduce Novelis’ initiatives toward achieving its “3×30” goals for circularity and carbon neutrality.
He will also showcase cutting-edge examples from the automotive sector, including:
- Development of recycled materials using post-consumer scrap in collaboration with European recyclers,
- Joint development with European automakers on components using recycled aluminum, and
- Demonstration of advanced sorting technologies for “Twitch” (mixed aluminum scrap).
Through these industrial partnerships, Novelis is at the forefront of building a truly circular aluminum value chain.
Profile:
He holds a master’s degree in metallurgical engineering from Osaka University. He joined Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. in 1992 and engaged in the development of metallic materials for body and powertrain applications in the R&D division. After an assignment at Nissan North America R&D center, he led initiatives in aluminum recycling and low-CO₂ material development. In April 2025, he founded THY Nexus LLC and currently serves as Representative of Novelis Japan, overseeing partnerships with Japanese automotive OEMs.
