Interview with Alice Huang, China Representative of SK TES
---“Japan can become a model market for Asia. The key to SK Group’s ‘total solution’ lies here.”
During the ICM conference, the IRuniverse editorial team (Tanamachi) had the valuable opportunity to interview many key figures and hear insights about their corporate visions and strategies.
As a media partner, IRuniverse also attended the Steering Committee meeting on the 36th floor of the venue hotel. There, we spoke with Ms. Alice Huang, China Representative of SK TES, about the Japanese market and SK’s broader Asia strategy.
■ Outlook on the Japanese Market
Q. How do you view TES Group’s development in Japan?
A. “Japan has a very straightforward system—transparent and consistent—and its regulations and frameworks supporting the circular economy are exceptionally well-structured. Japanese companies have extensive experience, and we still have much to learn from them.
Even so, the potential for collaboration with Japanese companies is enormous, and we look forward to future developments.”
■ Expansion into the Asian Market
Q. Do you plan to expand integrated recycling businesses—such as plastics and tires—not only in Japan but across Asia?
A. “Absolutely. Starting in Japan is highly significant in terms of credibility. We believe Japan can serve as a benchmark or model case for Asia.”
■ Collaboration Opportunities in Battery and Materials Recycling
Q. Are M&A or partnerships with Japanese or other Asian companies being considered in battery and materials recycling?
A. “In the circular economy, recycling is only the final stage. Our ambition is to become a total solution provider. For example, starting from:
- AIDC
- AI Data Centers
we aim to evolve into a green energy supplier and offer wide-ranging services centered on green design.
This includes reuse of devices and creating an end-to-end circular system. That is the total solution we intend to develop.”
■ Alignment with SK Group Strategy
Q. Could ESS batteries supplied to SK Group’s data centers also be provided through SK TES as part of a unified group solution?
A. “Well, I’m not in a position to speak for the entire SK Group, but we are certainly working toward that direction. ESS supply itself is handled not by SK TES but by a subsidiary called Zcycle.
What I can say is that the SK Group operates under a strategy built around A, B, C:
- A = AI
- B = Battery
- C = Chips
SK TES plays a key role in supporting this ABC strategy.”

■ 与 SK 集团战略的联动
问：SK 集团运营的数据中心所使用的 ESS 电池等，是否也可能由 SK TES 供应，实现整个集团的整体解决方案？
答： “我虽然无法代表整个 SK 集团发言，但我们确实正朝这个方向努力。ESS 本身的供应并非由 SK TES，而是由旗下子公司 Zcycle 负责。
可以肯定的是，SK 集团战略以 A、B、C 为核心：

- B = Battery
- C = Chips
