H1 2025 Global EV Market Surges 34% to 9.83 Million Units — Led by Chinese Makers, BYD Retains Top Spot

Global sales of electric vehicles (EVs) — including battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), and fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs) — reached 9.83 million units in the first half of 2025 (January–June), up 34.1% year-on-year. BEVs accounted for 6.34 million units (64.5%), PHEVs for 3.49 million units (35.5%), and FCEVs only 2,000 units (0.0%), confirming that BEVs remain dominant. While the pace of growth is moderating, the market has consistently added more than 3.6 million units annually over the past five years, maintaining a strong expansion trend.
