The supply of graphite electrode for steelmaking remains tight on a global basis. In Japan, domestic electrode manufacturers announced to raise prices.
The selling prices have risen to JPY900,000/tonnes in April. Tokai Carbon raised the price of slimmer products with less than 16 inches in diameter to JPY1.3 mn/tonnes.
