The BIR World Recycling Convention was bustling with many participants, even the day before the official opening. On the first day, attendees from India were particularly noticeable, engaging actively in business card exchanges. Yuji Tanamachi, Risa Sugihara, and Midori Fushimi from IRuniverse also had the opportunity to interact with the sales team and representatives from ferrous/non-ferrous traders, the recycling industry, and media.
Here are some highlights during the Eve of the Convention:
Safi — Where AI Meets the Circular Economy
Our first encounter was with Safi, a global AI-enabled B2B trading platform for recycled materials that aims to improve transparency, efficiency, and trust across the recycling supply chain.
According to Gaurav (from India branch) and Shah (from UK headquarter), Safi leverages advanced AI technology to assess material characteristics and quality, generating data that supports clearer communication between sellers and buyers. This information is subject to internal checks, and only reliable reports are shared with dealers and customers, helping to establish a strong mechanism of trust.
By combining digital technology with recyclables trading, Safi offers a model that enhances both operational efficiency and market transparency—an approach that is drawing growing attention within the global recycling industry.

MIRU Media Partner - BIGMINT
We also had our first in-person meet-up with Jayprakash of BIGMINT, with whom we recently signed a media partnership agreement, and Brian of Recycling Today. IRuniverse will actively promote international exchange, such as joint events, coverage, and factory visits, in collaboration with media partners around the world, including those in Southeast Asia, the United States, and EU countries.
Specifically, through the partnership with BIGMINT, we plan to enhance our understanding of markets in Asia, especially in India, Bangladesh, and Indonesia, and facilitate the invitation and mutual visits of representative delegations to and from Japan.
——Side Note——
It was also great to see Mr. Parolia from Nihon Ispat Private Limited, whom we had not met since last month's Battery Summit!
We are looking forward to welcoming them for their participation in the next Battery Summit to be held in Tokyo in March.
