Attero Invests ₹150 Crore to Boost E-Waste Recycling Capacity to 244,000 Tonnes Annually

Attero, one of the leading electronic waste recycling companies of India, announced an investment of ₹150 crore in expanding its recycling infrastructure and increasing its manpower on a large scale. The company aims to increase the total annual recycling capacity of the company by 100,000 tonnes, taking the combined capacity to 244,000 tonnes per year, with this investment.

Capacity Expansion & Operational Scale-Up

Attero's present recycling facilities, which undertake recycling of all major categories of electronic waste like televisions, laptops, and mobile phones, among others, have been operating at full capacity. "Our current order book exceeds our processing ability," said Founder and CEO Nitin Gupta, "and we decided to scale up." The new capacity expansion will encompass four major sites across Pune, Bengaluru, Faridabad, and the copper refining plant in Jaipur.

Workforce Development

This expansion is expected to almost double the workforce of the company and will add about 800 new jobs on top of its more than 1,000 employees. The hiring effort will allow for increased throughput in operations, as well as the deployment of state-of-the-art technologies across its facilities.

Financial Performance & Technology Focus

Attero reported strong financial growth, with revenues growing from ₹440 crore in FY2024 to ₹1,000 crore in FY2025, a 100% YoY increase. The company remains profitable and cash-flow positive, a key indicator of its financial stability as it scales. The expansion also consolidates investment in robotics, automation and advanced materials recovery technologies, backed by the company's Greater Noida R&D Centre of Excellence. Attero currently has 47 patents for e-waste processing, battery recycling and metals recovery.

International Strategy and Market Context

In addition to domestic growth, Attero also plans to set up international recycling facilities, especially related to dismantling and lithium-ion battery recycling, using the same technology models developed within India.

India generates over 3.8 million metric tonnes of e-waste annually, but formal recycling has remained relatively minimal despite regulatory efforts to ensure EPR enforcement and compliance standards to increase the formal sector participation.
