IMRC 2026 Networking Insights: Aadishakti Metal Recycling and Gravita India

Network Insight: Aadishakti Metal Recycling Pvt. Ltd.

During the IMRC 2021 conference, we were able to interact with Mr. Gourav Sharma of Aadishakti Metal Recycling Pvt. Ltd.

The Role of Aadishakti in the Recycling Ecosystem of India

The interaction gave us a better understanding of Aadishakti’s business scale, its emphasis on regulated recycling processes, and its continued involvement in the lead recycling industry in India.

Aadishakti Metal Recycling Pvt. Ltd. has been in business since 1994, with a main objective of secondary lead recycling and the production of lead-based products. The company has several manufacturing facilities across India, producing refined lead, lead alloys, and lead oxides for use in the industrial sector.

The company’s operations are structured around the recycling of lead-bearing scrap, particularly from batteries and industrial waste streams, with an emphasis on:

  • Secondary lead recovery and refining
  • Production of lead alloys according to industrial requirements
  • Production of lead oxides for use in chemical and industrial processes

This makes Aadishakti more of a material recovery and manufacturing company than a trading or platform-based recycling company.

Operational Focus and Compliance Orientation

Aadishakti’s focus on regulated recycling processes:

  • Recycling of hazardous lead waste through regulated recycling processes
  • Compliance with environmental regulations in line with Indian government policies
  • Organized processing and handling of recyclable lead materials

From an ecosystem point of view, Aadishakti symbolizes the industrial base of lead recycling, ensuring that recycled materials are channeled back into manufacturing streams in a regulated and compliant manner.

Takeaways from Interaction

Some important takeaways from the interaction with Mr. Gourav Sharma are:

  • Aadishakti’s sustained expansion has been based on consistency in production quality and volume, and not on diversification
  • Aadishakti’s product offerings are strongly linked to battery production and industrial lead requirements
  • Environmental compliance and process integrity are key to Aadishakti’s sustained customer trust in downstream industries

Positioning in Circular Economy Frameworks

Although Aadishakti does not position itself as a digital, policy, or EPR platform provider, the company’s role in the circular economy is material-driven and execution-oriented. By processing lead waste, which is considered hazardous, into industrial materials, the company indirectly contributes to:

  • Less dependence on primary lead mining
  • Improved handling of hazardous materials
  • Maintenance of the domestic supply chain for lead-dependent industries

In essence, Aadishakti acts as a base-level recycler that facilitates circular material flows through industrial-scale recovery and production.

Network Insight: Gravita India Limited

During the conference, we also networked with Mr. Vijay Kumar Pareekh, Executive Director of Gravita India, and learned about Gravita’s business model and the specific contribution of its SEZ Jaipur facility to Gravita’s global presence. The discussions on recycling were increasingly encompassing technology, plant design, and scalable infrastructure. In this scenario, Gravita India Limited emerged as a firm that combined recycling with engineering and turnkey project delivery.

Gravita’s Integrated Recycling Model

Gravita India Limited, incorporated in 1992, is engaged in various recycling segments such as lead, aluminum, plastics, and rubber recycling, with presence and customers across several countries. Gravita is not a single-stream recycling firm but a multi-material, multi-geography recycling business.

The SEZ Jaipur facility has a specific role in this business model. According to official information, this facility is engaged in:

  • Engineering and fabrication of recycling machinery
  • Manufacturing of equipment for lead, aluminum, and battery recycling plants
  • Turnkey project support for recycling infrastructure

Thus, the role of the SEZ Jaipur unit in engineering and manufacturing activities related to recycling operations.

Engineering and Compliance at the SEZ Unit

The SEZ Jaipur facility operates under internationally recognized management standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, reflecting structured quality and environmental management systems.

From a strategic standpoint, the SEZ setup allows Gravita to:

  • Support export-oriented manufacturing of recycling equipment
  • Deliver customized plant solutions to global recycling operators
  • Integrate engineering expertise with its own downstream recycling needs

Key themes from interactions with Mr. Vijay Kumar Pareekh:

  • Gravita’s focus on end-to-end recycling solutions, combining equipment, operations, and material recovery
  • The importance of technology-driven efficiency in improving recovery rates and process safety
  • Growing demand for turnkey recycling infrastructure, particularly in emerging regulatory markets

Gravita’s approach reflects a shift from viewing recycling solely as waste processing to treating it as an industrial engineering system

Gravita’s Role in the Circular Economy

Gravita’s role in the circular economy is more structural than symbolic. Rather than engaging with digital compliance tools or carbon markets, Gravita’s role is to:

  • Provide physical infrastructure for recycling
  • Run recycling facilities that process waste into secondary materials
  • Facilitate scalability in recycling through standardized engineering solutions

Gravita’s engagement with material recovery, engineering, and fabrication enables the industrialization of the circular economy.

Conclusion: Two Complementary Roles in India’s Recycling Ecosystem

  • Aadishakti Metal Recycling plays the execution role: large-scale material recovery and production of secondary lead through compliant processes.
  • Gravita India plays the infrastructure and technology role: facilitating recycling through engineering, turnkey solutions, and integrated operations.
