BOTREE, a Supernova in China's LIB Recycling Industry, to Join in Battery Summit 2!
On July 15, IRUNIVERSE/MIRU.com conducted an online interview with BOTREE(https://www.botree.tech/), a lithium-ion battery (LIB) recycling technology and solution provider based in Jiangsu, China.
Although BOTREE is a new company founded in 2019, it has LIB recycling operations not only in China but also in Europe and Southeast Asia. Some of the materials are processed by the company itself, while others are being expanded to partner companies as technical guidance. The company's theme is the continuous use and recycling of battery material resources, and the construction of a recycling system is a pillar of its business, providing technologies and solutions for the recycling of battery metals and rare metal resources. The company also develops equipment for advanced recycling. Simply put, it is a technology consultancy company.
The company was founded in 2019, with branches in Germany and Singapore to be established in 2021. As one would expect from a Chinese company, they are developing quickly.
Its main business is to provide industrial and technical advice. Among them, the company can provide lithium-ion battery recycling technology plans, production process optimization, and research and analysis of lithium-ion battery recycling industry markets and resources in China and abroad. In addition, the company can also provide industrial design (process solution analysis, selection and procurement of ancillary machinery, technical testing, implementation, and commissioning), carbon-related support (carbon assessment, ESG, etc.), intelligent equipment, and after-sales service.
The company also works with Huayu Cobalt and subsidiaries of Ningde Era, two key players in China's battery materials industry. We see it as quite a strong player.
The company's recovery technology also shows that the recovery rate of electrode materials in the full process treatment of used batteries is 98% or more, and the content of impurities such as copper and aluminum recovered is 0.5% or less.
The company also said that the direct recovery rate of ternary batteries and nickel-cobalt mineral resources reaches 98.5% or more, and nickel, cobalt, and manganese can be extracted simultaneously.
In addition, the recycling process for lithium iron phosphate batteries is based on waste iron phosphate batteries, with a recovery rate of over 95% for lithium and over 90% for all components of phosphorus and iron, and finally battery-grade iron phosphate can be recycled.
BOTREE's technology and facilities are spread all over the world as shown in the figure below. It is already a global engineering company. They are also providing their technology in the U.S., Korea, and Japan.
The company's technological capabilities have been recognized abroad, as shown in the chart above, and in 2019, BOTREE was the first Chinese company ever to participate in the International Energy Agency's technology cooperation program, with recycling and resource utilization technologies, both with Chinese and foreign companies. It has global partner agreements in various countries and its expansion strategy is still ongoing.
BOTREE is scheduled to speak at the "Battery Summit 2022 vol2 (Aug. 31) at Gakushi Kaikan" on August 31(→ Battery Summit 2022 vol2 (8/31) at GakushiKaikan supported by ACE), hosted by IRUNIVERSE. They are eager to visit Gakushi Kaikan and meet with many Japanese companies involved in battery recycling.
