Rare earths market Update 2022#18: Rare earths market enters an upward phase due to supply concerns
12/23/2022 10:36
Rare-earth market prices have been on a fast track here, as China's November exports, announced in early December, showed a large double-digit drop to 2949.6 tons, down 39.3% y/y (down 18.2% m/m). The market was sensitive to the unusual situation in the largest exporting country. Some market participants are pessimistic about the possibility that the country's zero-corona policy shift will also cause a slowdown in rare-earth production activities due to the spread of infection rather than an economic boost, and supply concerns may lead to a one-step rise in the near term.
