The aluminum raw material industry has been facing a terrible situation. According to a source from a leading aluminum scrap dealer in Kanto region, “Alloy manufactures and deoxidizer manufacturers have announced to suspend receipts of scrap one after another since the beginning of April. Our sales volume will drop by 15-20% in April, and even worse by 50% in May on year-on-year basis.” The source said that the market has drastically changed since the beginning of April. As the shipping to alloy manufacturers decreased to once a week, the dealer reduced their scrap purchases significantly along with drastically decreased demands.
