Day 1|MRAI’s 13th #IMRC2026

This marked MRAI’s second participation at IMRC, beginning with an inspiring inauguration session.
The opening discussions set a strong tone for the conference, highlighting collaboration, innovation, and the future direction of the metals and recycling industry.

The Inaugural session of the IMRC 2026 kick-started the event with utmost passion and focus on the bright future ahead, bringing together the most prominent policy influencers and leaders in the metal and recycling industry in the Indian context. The session highlighted the need for sustainability in the industry.

The presence at this event was honored by Mr. Daya Nidhan Pandey, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Steel, Government of India, underlining the commitment of the government to developing the metals and recycling sector value chain. He highlighted how India will increase steadily in the upcoming year with joint efforts towards the Steel Industry. His remarks covered the importance of responsible recycling practices and a Circular Economy approach and government support for industrialization. Mr. Daya emphasized the active role of the government in filling the gaps in policies in the recycling and metals sector. During his address, he discussed the need to initiate action towards improving the existing policies, apart from reiterating the fact that the government is committed to the development of the National Scrap Policy. 

This particular session represented the Metal Recycling Association of India (MRAI) at the conference, where the leaders who attended included Mr. Sanjay Mehta, the President of MRAI, Mr. Amar Singh, Secretary-General of MRAI, Mr. Zain Nathani, Vice President of MRAI, Mr. Dhawal Shah, Senior Vice President of MRAI, and Mr. Naveen Prakash Sharma, Vice President of MRAI. The collective knowledge of the leaders represented the vision of MRAI, which is to make India a sustainable recycling destination of the world through innovation, compliance, and engagement.

Adding their insight to the sector, Mr. Rajat Agrawal, CMD, Gravita India Ltd., shed light on the importance of organized recycling units in achieving the aims of the government through technological and environmentally responsible approaches.

The inauguration session ended with a note of celebration with the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement Awards to recognize personalities who have contributed greatly to the metal recycling industry. It aimed to pay tribute to their leadership, vision, and influence in the industry, thus bringing the inauguration ceremony of the ‘IMRC 2026’ to a positive and motivational end. 

IRuniverse once again participated as an official media partner at MRAI Jaipur – IMRC 2026 (The International Material Recycling Conference & Exposition).
Now in its 13th edition, IMRC 2026 brought together over 2,500 participants from around the world, with more than 190 exhibitors, making the venue vibrant and truly international.
