The finalisation of the amended Waste Management Act, which serves as a statutory version of the yard ordinance, is now entering its critical phase. The Ministry of the Environment conducted a public comment process from January 9 to February 7 under the title "Solicitation of Opinions on the Draft Opinion Submission Regarding the Future of the Waste Management System," and is currently in the process of compiling responses. As the path toward legislation moves forward with the goal of improving the health of the scrap industry, many voices from industry associations and others have been expressing concern over its negative aspects.
