To Be the Top Recycled Tin Manufacturer of the World RUI DA HUNG
Top Taiwanese Recycled Tin manufacturer, Rui Da Hung Technology Materials Co., Ltd. (HQ in Taoyuan City Long Wei District, Chen Wei Yuan General Manager) was established in 1995. RDH has been already one of top four recycled tin manufacturers even the company is 24 years old.
The founder Mr. Chen’s family started as a Christmas trees maker and his friend started recycled tin manufacturing, so he got into the business.
There were only three staff in a plant in 1995. They have currently 130 employees and four plants in Taiwan
Production of recycled tin was 100 tons/year in 2003, but now increased by 3,300 tons.
I’ll talk about indium later, RDH has developed it with a government subsidy.
They have a miniature electrolytic facility in the first plant, which also is trying to produce high purity indium.
These raw materials are scrap materials such as tin dross, anode and sludge.
They also produce high purity recycled tin 3N5(99.95%) also by using the crude tin ingot imported.
RHD 1st plant
Raw materials such as tin dross and sludge are mainly collected from PCB (substrate) plants and solder manufacturers in Taiwan.
“As PCB makers relocated their plants to China and Vietnam, imports will likely increase”, says Mr. Chen of RDH.
However, there is a tin refining factory in Vietnam, so it is competitive to purchase.
Collecting raw materials, melting in the arc furnace and forming of ingot are operating in the first plant.
Recycled lead ingots are also produced here at the first plant.
The tin melts at 230 degrees and is poured into the mold after a 2.5-hour- dissolution.
I saw their craftmanship because they have manual procedure from time to time.
The second plant processes by-products (such as anode slime).
Copper sulfate, bismuth hydroxide and zinc sulfate are produced here.
Electrolysis is mainly in the third plant. And the fourth plant is new to RDH.
They are currently waiting for a license, but the license will be issued and the plant will contribute to the expansion of their production without any doubt.

Currently, the world’s largest recycled tin producer is Metallo Group in Belgium (* Aurbis in Germany proposed acquisition) and they produce recycled tin 1,000 tons/month, 12,000 tons/year.
It has four times as that of RDH.
Other companies are OM in the Philippines and Fenix in Poland, but four companies including RDH are narrowed down as a major recycled tin producer.
Ms. Ariel Chiang from Overseas sales Division of RDH said, “we would like to supply competitive, higher-quality recycled tin to the market.”
Mr. Chen also said, “I would like to expand the scale while maintaining high quality.”
So, they expect the fourth plant.
RDH can keep the high quality due to their technology and analysis.
“I am always working on technological improvement and learning about other metal refining processes,” he said.
He added, “Recycled tin does not use conflict minerals but recycled materials.”
(RDH President Chen Wei Yuan ) (Ms. Ariel Chiang)
Tin in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia is made from ores.
Instead, Recycled tin has the higher quality due to the lower impurities in raw materials.
and recycled tin is the best for corporate compliances like solders and cost,” said Mr. Chen and Ms. Chiang
According to RDH, the most popular place to sell the high purity recycled tin is JAPAN.
They are cooperating with Hanwa Co., Ltd for tin sales and marketing in Japan.
I agree, because we have the largest solder of the world, Senju Metal Industry in Japan.
Ms. Chaing also emphasized that Japanese market is very important.
