Analysis of Crude Lead (Bullion) Export Statistics, April 2024: Flat but at 4,000 tons for the second month in a row

In terms of volume, the single month of April remained flat for the second consecutive month at the 4,000-ton level, 4339 tons, m/m100%, y/y131%; January-April total 14,732 tons, y/y107%. By major export destination, shipments to South Korea decreased to 824 tons, or 87% m/m and 147% y/y, to 3,164 tons, or 138% y/y for the January-April period. Shipments to Taiwan declined slightly for the second consecutive month, to 914 tons, 97% m/m, 53% y/y, and 3535 tons, 50% y/y for the January-April period, a marked slowdown since the start of the current year. Shipments to Vietnam again totaled 0 tons, while those to Thailand increased slightly to 269 tons, m/m108%, y/y62%, for a total of 922 tons, y/y71% in January-April; those to India remained flat at 2010 tons (of which 1406 tons were of Bullion), m/m101%, y/y870%, for a total of 6495 tons, y/y887% in January-April. Shipments to Indonesia totaled 0 tons for the 15th consecutive month, “Others" totaled 322 tons, of which 291 tons were destined for China. (Table-1, Graph-1).
