The Chinese authorities have announced new regulations that could tighten restrictions on rare earth production, intensifying concerns about supply shortages. Ongoing political instability in Myanmar, a major producer of rare earth minerals, as well as fears that rare earths could be used as a political tool in U.S.-Ukraine relations, have further fueled supply concerns. As a result, many rare earth elements have reached their highest prices since the fall of 2024.
