Silicomanganese is an alloy containing manganese and silicon.Manganese is the majority of the composition, and silicon is generally present at 10-20%, with few impurities.In Japan, JIS No. 1 (manganese: 65% or more, silicon: around 15%) and JIS No. 3 (manganese: 60% or more, silicon: 15%) are commonly used as oxygen absorbers in steel production and other applications.Silicomanganese imports  totaled 224 thousand tons in 2023, with India, Kazakhstan, and China accounting for the majority of imports. More silicomanganese is imported in the form of silicomanganese (224 thousand tons) than is produced domestically from manganese ore (40 thousand tons), and MIRU uses the export price of 17% Chinese silicomanganese as an index, which is revised once a week after interviews with handling trading companies and traders.
