Analysis of Lead Scrap Export Statistics, April 2024: First Decline in 3 Months, 2nd Consecutive Sharp Decline to India

(Detailed Analysis) In terms of volume, the single month of April saw a sharp decrease for the first time in three months to 1,270 tons, 84% m/m, 97% y/y, and the total for January-April to 4,255 tons, 63% y/y. Shipments to Malaysia increased sharply for the third consecutive month to 1,073 tons, 118% m/m and 151% y/y, for a total of 2,974 tons for the January-April period, 166% y/y. Shipments to India declined sharply for the second consecutive month to 239 tons, 40% m/m and 46% y/y, for a total of 786 tons for the January-April period, 71% y/y. Shipments to India declined sharply for the second consecutive month to 239 tons, m/m 40%, y/y 46%, and 786 tons for the January-April period, y/y 71%. Shipments to Cambodia totaled zero for the 5th consecutive month, m/m-%, y/y 0%. Shipments to Pakistan totaled zero tons for the 13th consecutive month, m/m-%, y/y0%, while those to Laos totaled zero tons for the 10th consecutive month, m/m-%, y/y-%. Others" totaled 102 tons, of which 70 tons were destined for South Korea, where double-digit volume was the norm, and 27 tons for Thailand.(Table-1, Graph-1)。
