Shigeo Nakamura spent 30 years at Chori Co., Ltd., where he was engaged in rare metal procurement, operating at the forefront of Japan’s resource trading sector.
In 2004, he founded AMJ, a specialized rare metals trading company, which he managed for 20 years. Through his leadership, AMJ developed extensive global networks in rare metal development and importation, particularly across China, Russia, and Central Asia. Over the course of his career, Mr. Nakamura has visited 116 countries, building direct relationships within the global resource industry.
In August 2022, he established UMC Resources Co., Ltd., with a focus on resource development in Central Asia. Recognizing Japan’s insufficient rare metal stockpiles and the strategic necessity of securing critical minerals — including precious metals — for a technology-driven nation, he is committed to strengthening resource security.
UMC Resources aims to serve as a bridge between resource-rich nations and Japan, advancing partnerships grounded in national interest and long-term strategic stability.
蝶理株式会社にて30年にわたりレアメタルの買付業務に従事。資源ビジネスの最前線で、中国・ロシア・中央アジアを中心としたレアメタルの開発輸入に携わる。
2004年にはレアメタル専門商社AMJを設立し、20年間にわたり経営。グローバルな資源ネットワークを構築し、これまでに世界116ヵ国を訪問するなど、国際的な資源取引の第一線で活動してきた。
2022年8月、新たに中央アジアの資源開発を目的として株式会社UMC Resourcesを設立。日本のレアメタル備蓄不足という課題に対し、産業技術立国・日本の将来を見据え、貴金属を含む重要資源の安定確保に取り組んでいる。
今後は、国益に基づいた資源外交の視点から、資源国との橋渡し役を担うことを目指す。
