Trade Statics Report: 2019 July Battery Scrap Export Sharp Down
July alone, 195 tons of the material was exported 115.4% against the previous month, 2.7% to the same month of the last year while January-July cumulative figure stood at 2,284 tons 4.2% to the same period of the last year. After two consecutive months of no shipment, export for Korea rallied by 33 tons in the month.(table-1,graph-1) While in the previous month, “others” with 169 tons was divided into Hong Kong 100 tons, Malaysia 50 tons and China 19 tons, in July, it with 162 tons was divided into Hong Kong 10 tons, China 3 tons and Malaysia 149 tons topping others.
July alone, JPY 24.9millions was exported, 97.3% against the previous month, 3.1% against the same month last year, January-July cumulative was JPY 341.2 million, 5.3% against the same period last year(table-2, graph-2). This amount was again down from the previous month, hitting the lowest this year.
The average FOB in July significantly decreased to JPY150/Kg from the previous JPY196 slipping over two consecutive months (graph-3). Specifically FOB to Malaysia was JPY72/Kg amid JPY200s-300s for the rest, potentially for re-use purpose.
Osaka customs occupied 90% of cleared cargos as usual with month to month fluctuation about the country by country shares.
According to trade statics of Korea’s July import, the total quantity was hefty more than 41,000 tons, while average cif was approximately around JPY 100. Export from Japan was recorded null for May-June amid no import for June-July, which may indicate transit time between two countries.
