Both Japan and Europe, whose markets contracted in 2019, showed a recovery in 2020, with Japan growing 21% and Europe growing 16%. North America, which has seen positive growth for the third consecutive year, fell 20% in 2020.
By equipment category, sales of wafer processing equipment increased 19% and other front-end equipment increased 4%. Sales of assembly and packaging equipment and test equipment grew vigorously in all regions, with the 2020 market up 34% and total test equipment sales up 20%.
