Metalysis Partners with Sheffield to Shape Future Materials Scientists
Metalysis and Sheffield University Forge Strong Ties
Metalysis continues to build deep relationships with local industry, government and research institutions. With the latter we partner with the The University of Sheffield's School of Chemical, Materials and Biological Engineering, taking students for summer or year-long placements. This is invaluable to grounding them in the world of commercial materials science and adding valuable real-world experience to their studies.
Harvey Brown Begins Summer Placement at Metalysis
Harvey Brown, in his penultimate year of his master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Sheffield, commenced his summer placement in May with this running through to September.
Harvey Focuses on Metallurgy and Advanced Manufacturing
Harvey’s main areas of interest are metallurgy and advanced manufacturing with a particular focus on microstructural control through both alloy design and heat treatment to optimise properties for specific roles.
Optimizing Product Quality and Yields at Metalysis
His work at Metalysis includes focusing on post processing of several of our product streams – including aluminium scandium alloys, capacitor grade tantalum and lightweight refractory high entropy alloys - optimising product quality and improving yields.
Intern Gains Hands-On Experience in Advanced Manufacturing
“Metalysis provides an excellent opportunity to get experience working at the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing, working on challenging novel projects and developing the products – and the skills – needed by the rapidly developing advanced materials and advanced manufacturing sectors.”
