The 11th Battery Summit Successfully Held in Tokyo

On February 18, IRuniverse hosted the 11th Battery Summit at Bellesalle Onarimon Tower in Tokyo. This year, the summit relocated from its usual venue, Gakushikaikan, which is currently under renovation. The new location, directly connected to Onarimon Station and offering a scenic view of Tokyo Tower, provided an excellent setting for discussions on the future of the battery industry.

The event brought together prominent political figures and industry experts, fostering discussions on key trends, challenges, and opportunities in the battery sector. Notably, former Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura and Shingo Miyake, a leading member of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Battery Policy Caucus, both participated—marking a rare joint appearance by representatives from both the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors.

Beyond political leadership, the summit gathered global experts from across the battery, minerals, and policy sectors. Speakers from CBMM, Toshiba, Lyric Technology, Nickel Industries, and other industry leaders shared valuable insights on topics ranging from next-generation lithium-ion batteries, sustainable nickel supply chains, battery recycling innovations, to the impact of global politics on the EV and battery market.

With around 150 industry professionals in attendance, the summit facilitated dynamic discussions on emerging technologies, policy frameworks, and market strategies for the battery sector. Experts exchanged insights on critical issues such as recycling technologies, raw material sustainability, and geopolitical impacts on battery supply chains.

The Battery Summit continues to serve as a premier platform for knowledge exchange and industry collaboration, reinforcing Japan’s role in shaping the global battery market. As technological advancements and policy shifts accelerate, future editions of the summit will remain crucial in addressing challenges and driving sustainable growth within the industry.

More updates will follow—stay informed on the latest developments in the battery sector.
