Interview Series from the BIR Abu Dhabi: Part 4 – JAIN METAL Group, India’s Largest Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling Compan
For the fourth installment of our interview series featuring individuals we met at the BIR Abu Dhabi Convention (October 23–24), we would like to introduce JAIN METAL Group, India’s largest non-ferrous metal recycling company. We had a discussion with Mr. Sanchit Jain of JAIN METAL Group.
JAIN METAL is a well-established giant in the industry and is widely known in Japan as well.
The JAIN METAL Group is engaged in the recycling and manufacturing of copper and copper alloys, lead and lead alloys, aluminum and aluminum alloys, and tin and tin alloys. It also recycles plastics and trades non-ferrous metals and scrap. Founded in 1950, it is one of the oldest companies in India in this field. The company collects over 200,000 tons of non-ferrous scrap annually and also manufactures various types of ingots.
Regarding copper, the company purchases copper scrap ranging from copper cables to copper alloy scrap (including from Japan) and produces copper billets and copper wire at its own plant. It processes more than 10,000 tons of copper scrap per month, with most of the billets being sold to China.
For aluminum, JAIN METAL handles around 10,000 tons per month, mainly zorba, and produces 3,000 tons of aluminum alloys such as ADC12. The company supplies ADC12 to major automakers like Toyota, Honda, and Nissan.
For lead, the company processes 9,500 tons of lead scrap per month and refines it into high-purity lead (99.97%–99.99%), which is sold to various countries.
JAIN METAL also manufactures antimony lead alloys, tin-lead alloys, and calcium lead alloys. They expressed their interest in selling 3N7 lead ingots to Japan. Additionally, the company’s lead ingots are registered as an LME brand.
Regarding tin, JAIN METAL produces 2,000 tons of tin ingots annually, using tin dross and African tin concentrates as raw materials. The company refines high-purity tin ingots (99.85%–99.96%) and currently processes 200 tons per month. They also expressed interest in selling their tin products to Japan.
