The second lecture was originally scheduled to be delivered by Dr. Masato Sagawa, the inventor of the NdFeB magnet. However, as Dr. Sagawa had recently fallen ill—although he has since recovered—he chose to err on the side of caution and did not attend the NS Meeting. In his place, Dr. Yutaka Matsuura, who had worked alongside Dr. Sagawa on the development of the NdFeB magnet during their time at Sumitomo Special Metals, stepped in to give the lecture.
