Have Domestic Lead Battery Sales for Automobiles Plunged Into A
In Japan, the domestics production and sales for lead-acid batteries have plunged into a stagnant trend compares to the previous year. It also notifies sluggish sales for lead-acid batteries require in automobiles manufacturing. While the global automobile industry admits this declining trend both for the manufacturing and new car sales, it is unlikely to expect a recovery of demand for batteries.

According to the production statistics of Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry, the sales of lead-acid batteries increased by 10.1% to ¥14.2 billion in the June period. The figure was up for the first time from the previous three months. However, it decreased by 5.3% for the total sales from a prior-year period, down for two consecutive months.
The cumulative production of lead-acid batteries in the last six months, including this June results at ¥94.1 billion, which increased by 0.4% from the previous year period. It finds better performances from January to March, compares to the last year period. Moreover, it finds weaker returns over the prior months period, corresponds to the previous year. Looking at this year, it is uncertain whether the total sales of lead batteries in this year could make better performances than the past year’s achievements.

Approximately 2/3 of the lead storage battery productions in the domestics market are for automobiles manufacturing. In the June period, it finds the total sales of ¥9 billion for the lead-acid batteries for cars. It increased its volumes by 9.7% from the previous month period. On the other hand, it also finds a declining trend in sales for lead-acid batteries by 5.4% from a year prior period. A total downgraded pattern on motor vehicles sales in the last two months period closely affected to the 5.4% of a sharp declining sales trend for lead-acid batteries. It confirms that global car productions trend has recently downgraded into its reduction term; it results in a stagnant sales trend for lead-acid batteries after the periodical trend in 2016.
In June, auto-vehicle companies resulted in their 1.79 million units of sales, which decreased the total volumes by 5.4% from the previous year period. It finds a plummeted trend in its sales this year, whereas it shows a few differences compared to the last year’s trend. In the domestics market, it reached its bottom period of downturn trend on sales for lead-acid batteries of vehicles during the May period. It turned upward in December. In this year, it has turned upward after hitting its 1.67 million units of sales in May period, unless it records the same level of total sales only for twice, March and June period, compares to the previous year period. It seems that they are making the utmost efforts to increase sales at the end of the quarter.
It increased 1.98million outputs on lead-acid batteries sales for automobiles in June. It finds 1.98 million units of transactions, which upgrades by 7.8% from the previous month in a raw. Auto-vehicle companies remained their inventory reserves only by 4.1% compared to the same month period of last year, due to the sluggish sales from the previous year. The volumes of inventories increased in the June period. It finds 2.88 millions units of reserves in the June period, which increased by 340,000 units from the previous month.
Most automobile companies reduced their inventories from January to March this year as usual. In the March period of this year, on the other hand, they resulted in 2.27 million units of total sales. It increased by 1.81 million units of sales, compared to the last year’s sluggish 400,000 units of sales in the March period. It resulted in successful 2.06 million units of sales than 200,000 units of maximum numbers of sales going back to 2016, which had reserved its largest reserves in the March period.
It finds its smaller numbers of sales of motor-vehicles in China, India, Europe, Mexico, and Japan, compares to the previous year. It sees the latest weaker trend of exports about Japanese-made lead-acid batteries for cars in some regions. Such global sluggish trend brings a weaker sales trend for lead-acid batteries in the domestics market for a specified period.
