Copper Scrap Import/Export Report #97 Imports 210,000 tons in 2023, the first decline in three years

Japan's copper scrap imports in 2023 totaled 210,000 tons, the first decline in three years. The reactionary decline was particularly large for copper scrap, whose imports had grown significantly, especially in the first half of 2022. However, alloy scrap, mainly from the UAE in the first half of that year, grew significantly and exceeded the previous year's level for the year as a whole.
