「豊田通商の自動車における資源循環の取り組みとプラニックのCar to Car樹脂リサイクルの取り組み」

 

講演概要

　豊田通商では2024年4月よりサーキュラーエコノミー本部を発足し、資源循環ビジネスを加速。特に自動車の資源循環ビジネスに注力している。また、2024年末に株式会社プラニックを子会社化。プラニックでは樹脂リサイクルにおけるCar to Carの実現を目指している。豊田通商における自動車資源循環ビジネスの取り組みおよびプラニックのCar to Car樹脂リサイクルの取り組みについてご説明する。

 

プロフィール

　2004年 豊田通商に入社。1年目からトヨタ自動車に出向し、材料技術部でバイオプラスチックの車載向け先行技術開発を実施。豊田通商に帰任後、自動車向け樹脂の開発・販売・事業化を担当。

　2010年 豊田通商ヨーロッパ（チェコおよびドイツ）に駐在。日系のみならず、欧州系自動車メーカーや容器包装などの樹脂ビジネスを担当。この頃から欧州系樹脂リサイクラーを20社以上訪問し、樹脂リサイクラーとの提携のみならず、樹脂リサイクルの事業化検討開始。

　2014年 豊田通商帰任後、樹脂リサイクル事業化等に従事。自動車、家電、容器包装などの樹脂リサイクルを経験し、2024年12月にプラニックの代表取締役に就任。現在、豊田通商、自動車技術会リサイクル技術部門員会委員、SIP第3期課題「サーキュラーエコノミーシステムの構築」 アドバイザーも兼務。

Presentation Title:

"Toyota Tsusho’s Automotive Resource Circulation Initiatives and Planic’s Car-to-Car Resin Recycling Efforts"

 

Presentation Summary:

In April 2024, Toyota Tsusho Corporation established its Circular Economy Division to accelerate business efforts in resource circulation, with a particular focus on the automotive sector. At the end of 2024, Toyota Tsusho made Planic Co., Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary. Planic aims to realize a Car-to-Car model in resin recycling—recovering plastic materials from end-of-life vehicles and reusing them in new cars.

 

This presentation will introduce Toyota Tsusho’s current automotive resource circulation initiatives, as well as Planic’s specific efforts toward achieving Car-to-Car resin recycling.

 

Speaker Profile:

Mr. Yamashita joined Toyota Tsusho Corporation in 2004. From his first year, he was seconded to Toyota Motor Corporation’s Materials Technology Division, where he worked on advanced technology development for in-vehicle bioplastics.

 

After returning to Toyota Tsusho, he handled the development, sales, and commercialization of automotive plastics. In 2010, he was stationed at Toyota Tsusho Europe, working in both the Czech Republic and Germany. There, he engaged in resin business with not only Japanese but also European automakers and packaging manufacturers. During this time, he visited over 20 resin recyclers in Europe, beginning exploratory efforts for business partnerships and commercialization in plastic recycling.

 

After returning to Japan in 2014, he worked on the commercialization of resin recycling businesses across the automotive, electronics, and packaging sectors. In December 2024, he became President & CEO of Planic Co., Ltd.

 

Mr. Yamashita concurrently serves as:

 

Member of the Recycling Technology Committee, Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE)

Advisor for Phase 3 of the SIP (Strategic Innovation Promotion Program) project “Development of Circular Economy Systems”
